Giver's Portal
The best way to support progress in communities of color to me is:
Give to support organizations focusing on the problems first then strengthen what is working
Give to support what is working and build a plan to address the negatives later
Give support to educational programs that will address mindsets that are not conducive to change
Support new innovative ideas that have potential to spark new change
The best way I suggest informing givers about community issues is to:
Provide an Illustration (draw me a picture)
Map out a strategy
Listen to the impacted residents
Research ways we have overcome this before
The best action I see myself doing to contribute to transforming communities:
Write a check to support methods I believe in
Joining a think tank to help think through issues and how to solve them
Volunteer to help physically in some way
Advocate on behalf of the cause and/or organization nationally, regionally, or locally
The message I am most interested in supporting to transform communities is:
The vision can be a reality (DREAM BIG)
Thinking minds can move mountains (Getting on the same page is a must)
Doing makes the Difference (Action is the only way)
Lets speak this into existence (Policy is the key)
In the end, I desire whatever I contribute to in some way result in the following:
The ability for the vision to manifest
The ability to research and CREATE STRATEGIC PLANS concerning what to do
The ability for more people to be funded to IMPLEMENT the action required for change
The ability for a unified voice to ADVOCATE for policies that support the desired actions of the community
I would like my flame contribution to go towards:
Immediate needs
Longer Term Needs
Initiatives that will improve living in New Orleans for generations to come.
